LHABAB DÜCHEN celebration with Khenpo Tashi Sangpo Lag
Tuesday 15 November from 19:15 to 20:45 at Sakya Tsechen Ling :
LHABAB DÜCHEN – the festival of the descent from heaven – is one of the four major Buddhist holidays.
Buddha’s mother Mayadevi was reborn in Indra’s heaven. To repay her kindness and to liberate her, and also to benefit the gods, Buddha spent three months teaching in the realm of the gods. He descended to earth in Sankisa, which is located in modern Uttar Pradesh, and which is counted among the eight holy places.
Khenpo Tashi Sangpo will give an introduction on this special day.
Afterwards we recite the 16 Arhat Ritual.
We will also pray for the long life of Her Eminence Jetsun Kushok, who celebrates her birthday on 14th November (according western calendar), and send her our heartfelt wishes.
Monthly session with Khenpo Tashi Sangpo Lag
Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 November from 10:00 to 12:00 and from 14:00 to 16:00 at Sakya Tsechen Ling :
LOJONG/TRAINING OF THE MIND – TEACHINGS
Mind training’s essence: the lamp that clarifies the path of liberation.
Lojong, or mind training, is a core practice in all the lineages of the Tibetan tradition. They can perhaps best be characterized as a method for transforming our mind by turning away from self-centeredness and cultivating instead the mental habits that generate bodhicitta, the awakened mind that puts the benefit of others above all else.
The practice of lojong is therefore presented as a method to shift our attitude away from our problems, anxieties, hopes, and fears toward an expansive sense of joy and well-being that springs from the very essence of Mahayana—bodhichitta.
On 19th November His Holiness the 42nd Sakya Trizin Ratna Vajra Rinpoche celebrates his birthday (according western calendar). On this occasion we recite his longlife prayer, sending him our deeply felt and sincere wishes.
